Azerbaijan’s ecotourism development prospects in the context of the TTCI index

Abstract

This study analyzes the ecotourism potential of Azerbaijan and its connection with the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI). The impact of key sub-indices—natural resources, environmental sustainability, and tourism infrastructure—on ecotourism revenues is assessed through empirical models. Findings reveal that the improvement of tourism infrastructure and the protection of natural resources play a decisive role in ecotourism development. Strategic planning and sustainable tourism policies are recommended to enhance the sector’s performance.
