At the beginning of the 21st century, information and communication technologies (ICT) began to play an important role in the development of the global economy and society. In particular, the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further increased the importance of the ICT sector, strengthening the role of technology in work, education, trade and social spheres.
The restrictions and social distancing measures implemented during the pandemic have led businesses, government agencies, and individuals to turn to digital solutions. During this period, significant progress has been observed in the areas of online platforms, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. At the same time, although the pandemic has had a positive impact on the development of the ICT sector, it has also created some challenges. Disruptions in the production chain, chip crisis, increase in cyberattacks, and deepening of the digital divide have been among the main problems that have emerged during the pandemic.
This study will comprehensively analyze the impact of the 2020 pandemic on the ICT sector, and study the development dynamics of technological innovations and their impact on the economic system.
