Abstract

The article examines the current state of young labor resources, the dynamics of their distribution in areas and the effectiveness of the use of these resources, which form the basis of the future economic model of Azerbaijan. The study shows that Azerbaijan is still at the stage of” demographic dividend". Young people (aged 2.3 to 14), who make up about 29 million of the country's population, are the most dynamic and innovation-oriented force in the economy. However, the statistical picture of the last five years reveals a tendency to a slight decrease in the number of young people and at the same time a change in youth employment trends in accordance with the structural transformation of the economy.

One of the most important areas of assessment is the transition of the young workforce from traditional sectors to modern service and technology areas. If in 2021 the bulk of young people were concentrated in agriculture and low-skilled labor, then towards 2025 there is a sharp increase in the share of young people working in ICT, communications, finance and the modern service sector. Reconstruction projects, especially in the liberated territories, have ensured the flow of young people to the regions in the field of construction and engineering, to some extent compensating for the regional labor market imbalance.
